Caliper Ken
Hi, I got the moniker from the other old farts at my local woodworking club who (also) couldn't read the milimetre markings on the steel rule they were using to determine the thickness of some timber. I used a digital calliper - twice and so the name stuck.
I live in Newcastle New South Wales Australia and I am full time carer for my totally disabled wife.
While I like working wood most, I also have a metal turning lathe (because I always wanted one!), a mill (because I always wanted one!) and a metal bandsaw (because it's easier than a hand held hacksaw). I have an (almost) fully equipped woodworking shop. Just need the walls to bulge a bit further to get the fantasy bits in !!
I would like to build a wooden boat to take my 4 grandsons sailing - but at 3 mths - 4 years they ar'nt quite old enough to haul on the ropes just yet. And a steam traction engine ... and ....Some dayyyyy....

Hi Ken,
Welcome!
Sounds as though you've got quite a nice workshop there. Can't wait to see some of your homemade tools!
When you're ready to share a few, please post them directly in the Homemade Tools, subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.
Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.
