Basic scribing. Come on lets get a little fancier! We used to use a scrap of flooring to scribe the angles. You only need to be the thickness away from your scribe surface that matches your wood block and your scribe line will match up perfectly. Most of the time for fancier scribing we used a compass. Or even coins if the distance was not that wide.

A compass could be both good and annoying if the joint wasn't tight enough.
