At the hospital that I retired from, I worked in the Maintenance Shop. We did a butt load of toilets (yes, pun intended), all of the wall hung variety. These take a lot of caulking and trying to remove the old stuff was darn near impossible if it had hardened with age. Sometimes you couldn't even get the blade of a box knife (razor blade) to even nick it. Sometimes the blades would snap off. One of our guys tried using his Milwaukee oscillating multi tool with an old blade on it, to see if it would do anything. Lo and behold, it worked like a champ! It doesn't hurt the porcelain, doesn't damage the tile or sheet rock either. We just plunge cut and moved it along between the toilet body and the wall and it sailed right through! Left the porcelain and the wall surface sufficiently clean. It took almost no time at all compared to using a sharp blade. We even used it on large wall hung stainless steel sinks in the labs and kitchens around the hospital. It was a real time saver!
