The power losses in running 2 geared drives and a universal joint would make this a pain to ride. If it were geared low enough for ease of starting then it would be a slow trip anywhere

A lot of work to avoid a chain on a sprocket rocket. I had only one gear & it was hard work but cheaper than a Jym for exercise.My one was way better than another i bought as a kid which was a fixed wheel=that was a real pain to stop.
