Chinese cactus syringe DIY - GIF
-
I did not see that coming.
-
-
Hmmmm....That's not really his color. He's more of an autumn, I think.
-
Did not expect that but when I saw the cactus paddles after being hung for a bit (I wonder how much time elapsed) I immediately recognized cochineal - having worked where there was a large old cactus which was inhabited by the bugs or parasites or whatever they are.

Good call. I guess it's some sort of natural red cactus insect dye?
This guy is bizarre though, even for weird Chinese GIFs, and we have seen plenty of those around here. And he gets stranger:

Jon how can we call what he is doing weird? he has an amazing ability to not only recognize the hidden qualities in things we cannot see. Remember the most expensive coffee in the world is that from the undigested seeds found in the feces that particular species of cat. His knowing how to make his own steeping vessel out of discarded lightbulbs alone is almost tantamount of genius. Me I would have had to resorted to using components found in a chemistry lab to make something like that. And for sure would never have known about the die extract from the parasites which could be drawn out of a cactus paddle.
Another not completely related thing is in some cultures there are parts of elephant dung which is sometimes the only thing available for the tribes to eat since elephants have such a poor digestive system a lot of the plant matter, they eat passes straight through them undigested

Here’s Wikipedia info on cochineal - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cochineal
The rough and ready ingenuity of people like this guy always amaze me.
Whipping up a vacuum brew device from a couple light bulbs is pretty clever.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum_coffee_maker
I didn’t quite get what the cat was doing in the basket - a cat of that size wouldn’t likely create scat of that size and just laying around in the basket? A head scratcher to me. Also that was one light roast of beans so it didn’t seem like coffee…at least not the way I like to drink it.
His lipstick application skills seem to be on par with my little sister when she was a toddler and got into our mom’s lipstick one day. Haha

I like Turkish coffee but it must boil and cool 3 times before being heated again the way some Argentinian friends of mine make it, to get the full flavor out of it
Arabic coffee is very weak in color and must be made from some very choice roasted beans. drank more for ceremonial or friendship gatherings than anything else. It has a unique taste and always served in thimble sized glasses not cups

We knew this guy who lived in our canyon, and he had an old gold mine in his backyard that he had converted to a beer cave; stays cool all year round and doesn't freeze in winter. He was a judge for the Great American Beer Festival, and people would send him free samples of their beer and he would store them in the cave. Every year he would have this wild party where he would open up the beer cave and everyone could drink any beer in the cave.
One year he gave me a free ticket to the Great American Beer Festival. I went and tried many beers. The most memorable was this stout; I couldn't believe how good it was. It was made with the coffee beans from civet cat droppings. Here it is: https://drizly.com/beer/ale/stout/im...-weasel/p59460
I say "weird" having binged the rest of his videos. Clearly intelligent and resourceful, but bizarre. I'll post more of them.

Oh boy, how handy is this homemade tool. :)

Wow, I never would have guessed it was going to be clown lipstick!

And we are all sure it has been tested by dermatologist and deemed safe and free of allergens to give to your significant other for their birthday, right?

It's the age-old question: Which is worse? Flavoring something with pre-digested coffee beans, or old t-shirts?
Grinding wheel and spherical frying pan are both interesting though.

You have to visualize and follow his whole process to fully appreciate what he is doing.
First he boils the old T shirt. this gets it clean free of contaminants. Then he cuts a swatch to use as a transfer medium and sealing the fibers by coating the swatch in cooking oil much the same way one would cure a cast iron skillet by burning the oil into it, allowing the oil to be baked into the swatch and onto the sphere effectively making it nonstick. The grinding of the boiled rice makes it have a consistent in texture about the viscosity of milk. He uses the oiled swatch to transfer the rice milk like substance to the sphere and cooks that into thin layers then piles several of those to make sort of a layered flat bread applies his filling of whatever he chooses and makes Barito like roll. I imagine it to be quite tasty as well. You just have to get around the stigma of the swatch once being a T shirt it could have been any cotton cloth.
Learning the ways and means of how things can be done in primitive ways could be very important for survival should the world be thrown back into a less technological era.

Yes indeed, when the smoke begins to clear after the "advanced" societies have blown everything up there will be survivors. Tt will be those who are able to make use of what they have to survive who will live on. And they will NOT be able to Google for solutions.

Two things. He is smart. And he is having fun doing this. There is humor in his videos as much as there is practical learning and application.
-
This one is more palatable, and he's got a sweet ride. They're planting some sort of TCM mushrooms.

Those little 2 wheeled tractors had lots of uses. My 1960ish Gravely commercial 10 A had an in-numerable amount of attachments back in the day but the only thing I have for it is a 60" front mower deck and a Sulkey
-
Notice the stone headed hammer with the steel handle, and the bandage on his big toe!!!.
I am curious to know what was going on with that trench full of buried logs and what did he put in with them?
I still use my Gravely 10A. 36" deck, 40" deck, 50" deck, regular sulky, steering sulky, plow, cultivator, snow blower. Love it when we have enough snow to run it in low gear, blowing a chute full of snow 50-75 feet across the yard.

Most likely some mushrooms.

I just mow it down when I get bed head. Come to think of it. It's time! Weedwhacker were are you!

I like this one. Don't worry, he doesn't eat the boots. It's actually much more sterile than barefoot grape stomping - both the historical version and the new hipster trend.

Regarding the anachronistic cell phone yammering in each of these, I think maybe they're ads?
-
Making Apple Jack. At first I thought maybe Apple Cider, but nope it's Hooch! Reasonably careful considering that he will be boiling it carefully for quite a while.
-
WOW this guy does it all .... but, maybe there needs to be another category for things like this.

Another bizarre one, although this is still better than most of the content on TikTok.

We grow a lot of roses so I had my wife watch this. I don't think she wants to pursue it any further. :D

I was all in smiling and laughing from the chainsaw point. What a character. A smart character mind you.

They need that music shoved up their ass!

Also entertaining because you never know what he is going to do next almost none of his videos have a foregone predictable outcome

I tend to watch most videos with the sound off and at double the speed.
