Probably just 3D laser scanned a real ant and let the machine work out all the G code. Very impressive nevertheless. I'd like to have one of those as a souvenir.
I recently purchased a 25mm steel cube comprising 4 perfectly machined interlocking parts using EDM. The gap between the parts is only microns wide and the various parts fit so closely they will slide very slowly into place under their own weight. It's mesmerising to watch and astounding to contemplate machining to such close tolerances.
