Download your software from here Getting LinuxCNC From the menu just pick stepconf to set it up. It should only take you a couple of minutes. But if you do run into some trouble there's always someone on chat.freenode.net in #linuxcnc (an IRC channel) that can help you out. Like if you can't figure out what address your port is on, or something (lspci -v in a terminal tells you). So I guess it will be something else? It is all graphical, and there isn't much to it really.
