    Coat hanger

With my mania for recycling, I could not resist making a coat hanger from the back of an old oak chair (the rest irreparably damaged and converted to charcoal and heat)

I used a 5” nail, cold forged, in situ. The buttons are mukwa, turned on the bench drill, finished on disc sander. They disguise the dowels that attached the chair back to the spindles.
I am going out now to see what else I can find.

Nice job. I make hangers from redundant 1/4" stainless steel gas lines, anything that's not reusable and not dangerous (some of the more interesting gases that I work with leave dangerous residues), made over 100 now. At first some of the other tech's though it was a waste of time and effort and took the p, then when they needed extra cleanroom hangers they discovered factory made S/S hangers cost £20 EACH, the ones I made cost them nothing, recycling at it's best. There is a 'cost', my labour and welding electrode wear, but that's well under £1 each, plus all the environmental savings from transport, re-melting and casting to making new products.
