Collet Attachment
I been wanting to make this for a while now, But you know how it is, You always say I'll get it tomorrow.
Well it's been tomorrow for 6 years now so I decided to get off my lazy butt and do IT !!
To start out this Clausing lathe I bought came with a 4 1/2 morse taper front spindle sleeve to accommodate a 5C collet and a draw bar but nothing else, So I had to make all the other gadgets ETC. ETC.
It's pretty straight forward, But it came out pretty good, After it was all said and done the test piece in the collet had a run out of .0003", that's pretty darn good if you ask me.
Now this information will only do good to people who own a 14" X 48" 6913 Clausing Lathe.
Below are some photos
And as always
Thanks for looking and happy machining
Doug

I just made one for my lathe I bought a tube with the internal threads and cut up a shock absorber that has the perfect dimension for extending the tube and silver soldered it to the threaded tube and put a thrust washer on the tube. work great. does the arms spin while the chuck is rotating?

Hi Ed
yes the arms spin while the lathe is turning. not an issue though, The spider that has the 3 handles is pinned to the tube with 2 - 5/16" X 2" Roll pins, so it does indeed turn with the lathe .
Thanks
Doug
