Cool Columbus, Ohio avid DIYer, local poor boy

There you have it, my novel introduction. Long time (10+ year) automotive mechanic, uncertified & self employed with interests in electronics, tool & die, and drafting/design. Do a bit of computer repair/diag on the side but i'm tired of desk nerd work, sick of anything with a lit screen.

So can i join the club? Am i cool enough?

    Thanks for asking

What brought me here is I've had issues for a long time finding a way to sharpen knifes, scissors, various blades etc. The whetstone blocks just dont cut it for very dull blades. I have a cheap craftsman bench grinder ive had for years and want to find a way/make a way to sharpen knifes on it. Problem is i cant just eye-ball the angle like some people seem to be able to do, I want some kind of jig setup where i can have a 25 degree angled rest to hold the knife while I sharpen it. Also interested in getting a new wheel for the bench grinder as i'm running a cheap china low-grit wheel that is complete garbage...any suggestions on that?

Also have lots of drillbits that need sharpened but i'll tackle that another time or send them out to a machinist

    Good to be here!
