There are heat storage tanks that use paraffin wax as the thermal storage. Might want to rig up something like this? Near Ottawa by the way. Canuckistanies we are.

Absolutely. I've been toying with the idea for years. It's really neat. I'm slightly worried about insurance having a fit with that much flammable material inside my house.

Right now I have a giant 304 stainless tank in my basement with two heat exchanger coils submersed in water. One can add heat energy to the water, the other can remove it to heat the house. Water is great, but there are definitely benefits to going with a phase change system.
