    Cylindrical Mandrel Anvil - Blacksmithing

I needed a way to forge nearly perfect circles rapidly of a fixed diameter and I was tooling up for a run of projects needing horseshoes and barstock into small diameter cirlces...so I went to a local small order metals shop and purchased a bunch of drops of varying thicknesses and welded them together to make a mandrel/anvil that mounts into either a vice or hardy hole in my anvil.

Yeah, that is unusual. Would be interested to see how it's used.

Hi There, currently I'm taking #0 horseshoes and making them nearly perfect circle rings for use as drinking glass holders when welded to rod or barstock...also as candleholder bases...

May I post pics of some projects that aren't tools...but what I make using them.

Sure, you can just post a YouTube url, and it will automatically get converted into an embedded video player.

That's one handy mandrel stake. One tool to do it all.

I like the idea of 5 diameters close together for what you are doing. When using this mandrel on the smallest diameters is there an excess of vibration because of their distance from the hardy hole support? RustyWrench
