Looks like tissue paper. That end of a paper machine is called the winder. I worked for an electrical contractor at a paper mill for 5 years. That’s exactly what their winders looked like. Not particularly dangerous compared to the rest of the machine. The biggest machine there put out newsprint at a rate of 3100 feet per minute. That’s more than 30 mph.

Where the heck is his Emergency Off button?

I think one of the characteristics of Chinese industry is to get by with the bare minimum of safety devices to save money and speed production.

I bet he had that video made so he could show his wife and make her NEVER complain about HER job ever again (unless she works there too!)
