Die Filer Attachment for the lathe

A die filer I built for my lathe starting from a Martin and Morrison casting set and customizing it a bit. The back end is a Morse Taper 2 arbor held in the Tailstock of a 9" SouthBend. In the chuck is a roller bearing crank acting on a scotch yoke. I also added an over arm support and a part hold down arm. Works a treat and it keeps my bench free of machines I don't use often and the motors and belts associated with them. I attached a video link to it running...

This cries out for a better pic or explanation! Specifically the statements about the Morse taper don’t make sense. I’m probably missing something thus not understanding what the Morse taper is doing here.

In any even the upper end looks neat with the hold down and the bearing support.

The whole device has a MT2 Arbor that sits in the Tailstock.

A crank shaft fits in the chuck.
