Die Grinder Mount
There have been several wonderful stationary filers on HMT. I looked at them closely but most of the work i do I don't need a flat finish and often I'm needing to take off quite a bit of material. I decided to make the die grinder from my radius cutter do double duty as a stationary die grinder.
I had a spare 80/20 linear bearing, a chunk of 80/20. I had been wanting to cut down the drill press centering fixture I got Little Machine Shop that I'm using to mount the die grinder to the 80/20 as it was twice as long as it needed to be. So now it fits better, and I have the other half to use on the drill press again, score!
3"x2" angle for the table and base bolted to the linear bearing. The bearing has a brake to lock the die grinder/ 80/20 unit in the bearing. I could also make the die grinder articulate up and down with a motor drive like the filers do but so far it's been uneccessary. It has come in real handy so far with small carbide bits and it has made getting into tight places much safer and easy to control. Attachment 13884Attachment 13885Attachment 13886

Terrific build C-Bag, thanks for sharing this! Great re-purposing of material and really like those clamps (conduit?) for the table. Is there some kind of pinch bolt for locking the slide position? Couldn't see any from the pics.
Thanks! ~PJ

Thanks Wiz!
Yup, more of the I beam conduit clamps. I have them now dedicated for different stuff I clamp to that table like a 4" vise and the sabre saw mount and when the unit is not clamped to the table they stay clamped on each unit. Handy as a shirt pocket.
If you look in the 3rd pic on the side of the linear bearing there is a 1/4" socket head bolt. That's what 80/20 calls a brake. Clamps solid when tightened down.

C-Bag, you have provide some really great ideas for adapting your die grinder for stationary filing. The 80/20 linear bearing is a unique adaption and very cool. Thank you for the posting and photos, Paul
