I have a commercial trap where at the back of a cone it has a deflector tongue to send the pellets into a well. Two issues with that are pellets being kicked out of the well by the incoming one and the tongue gets bent back from the impacts.
So, for bounce back I stick crumpled newspaper into the well.
For the bent tongue, I dropped a 1/2 pound bar of lead from a Lee mold into the top. That's getting a bit flattened but generally is holding the tongue in place.
I got a low power target pistol just for this trap. My regular pellet guns are hunting level and would destroy the trap.
