Diy Camera Rig
Hi I have finished making a camera rig for my SLR camera.
I like to make videos and have a small YouTube channel so this rig has been designed to alleviate some of the shortcomings of using a SLR camera for filming.
My background is in the broadcast world so I have a good insight into what makes a camera work successfully. For me the major problems are only two audio channels and a small viewfinders.
This rig has a large monitor to act as a viewfinder which crucially can swivel round to be seen from the front of the camera, essential for self shooting. Also I have split the two channel audio into one channel for the onboard mic (I chose a Rode videomic+) and the other channel records the radio mic often called a personal.
The whole thing is powered from a standard Makita drill battery which is reasonably cheap and plentiful a pro camera rig battery would be hundreds per battery.
After a few weeks of use I can say its been a good setup with one exception the camera has no record tally light or an output you can use so hitting the record button does not confirm recording with a red light. The viewfinder has a red border when recording but its hard to see in daylight.
Anyway please feel free to have a look and let me know what you think!

I tried to watch but it just shows a message that the file may have been moved.
Anyway I have a question. During playback do you run both sound channels together or do you pick one according to need?
