    DIY coils

    Hi all!
I just built a pair of matched coils for my new little speakers, passive crossover filter.

I would recommend a good free software: coil32, there are many available, this one is pretty friendly and accurate.

I needed 0,3mH air core coils, I build with lathe a Delrin sprockets and wind by hand. Simulations are very close to the real value, I had to trim few turns to reach the correct value. Copper is a high quality from italian brand, double layer enamel.

I measured both coils, resulted 0,298mH and 0,66 ohm, a perfect match for my filters.

    That's the software used:

The "black magic" of electronics has always fascinated me. I have some understanding, but have only built a few things from well documented schematics.

Electronics is really a funny world! My most extreme building was the plasma tweeter,a Dangerous but funny project, unluckily I stopped the development, I need to find other good parts to experiment.

This is the little speaker I developed and built. I used a Monacor Sph165 modified with phase plug and different T/S parameters, ported (heavy) enclosure, Modified Tweeter. I will take measurement soon, according simulations I should have 46hz at -3db. I tried a fast listening with makeshift components (basically attenuation on tw and high pass filter), results seem quite impressive
