Double-jointed elbow shooter arm - photo
-
I think I might have a clue, I used to have to something similar in my pistol shooting days as I am right handed but as I have a dominant left eye I used to have to do the same.

Can anyone identify that weapon? Strange looking barrel?
-
If he used that technique with a .500 S&W he would have a triple-jointed elbow.

I think what you are looking at is an add on barrel weight.

I used to shoot that way with a Ruger Blackhawk 44 Magum and it never did me any harm.

Found the source vid. Here it is queued up to where the guy in the pic above is shooting:

It's from an ISSF 25 meter rapid fire pistol match. More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISSF_2...id_fire_pistol

So it looks like I was barking up the wrong tree with left dominant eye thing now I have seen the video, interesting that I was taught to shoot with both eyes open, pistol and rifle.
