    Whilst I appreciate the skill and knowledge in involved making a drill from scratch, isn't this a bit like reinventing the wheel? Wouldn't it be a more efficient use of your time and resources just to buy one from an engineering place. Unless you are just making it just because you can and want to, either way, excellent work and great video. Cheers.

    This video shows the technique using a commonly available size. But with that kind of accuracy it would be easy to custom make any drill diameter you need regardless of commercial availability. I expect the same process could be adapted to make reamers too.

    Some have to make their own drill bits due to special length requirements. Gun drills come to mind not just for making rifle barrels but having to bore a hole through a long solid bar. There are manufactures of these to be sure but sometimes it is hard to justify the sometimes-huge expenditure to purchase a ready made bit but then again, many gun drills will have a single straight flute with a hollow fluid flow cavity for high pressure flooding. These bits sometimes use indexable inserts or brazed carbide for the cutting edge
