Drill press centering guide.

I made couple adjustable stands while ago.
Made this for that purpose.

Its nothing genial, but i tought that one could find it usefull.
Wanted to make it simple as possible, but still accurate and easy to use.

Note: To locate placement of the hole, just measure distance from the edge of bolt that works as s pushing, to the end of the pipe. - 5mm which is the radius of the bolt. If desired location of the hole is 100mm from the end, used measure is 95mm. No need to separately mark location before drilling.

But if you want to mark the placement, just twist pushing up to see the end of the drill, and set it to the marked location. Clamp pipe, lower pushing and drill..

Old Finnish machinists in America traditionally use hardened steel drill bushings for their drill guides. (available from industrial suppliers)
But you made your own - which is typical for a hardheaded Finn.

Yep.

I don't know.. are Finns cheapskates or what, but here buying something is usually last option. :D

I think that, reason has been that there is long distace to everywhere. That tradition most likely started, because in the past days everything had to make by yourself.
Kids learned that mentality and so on...

Some time ago that seemed to be forgotten, like everywhere when people moved to city.
I am happy that diy- ideology is popular again.

When i was a kid my father straighten used nails for reusing, no matter how many boxes he had unused nails on the shed...

always love your posts...the angle grinder professor, I call you ! I learned the 'save it for another day' mantra in my 20s
(now 66)...an employee of mine in the plywood business in Sydney said, "handy if you never need it..'
and I have trained 2 wives to pick up minor hardware on the ground, yes, washers even, and bring home for inspection...even a hopeless find is ALWAYS put in the proper drawer in the fasteners cabinet..
I never want to let them down, as they never do me..cheers, mate

I have that same "hoarding syndrome". But, usually i use them at some point. Or some friend needs something that i have stored.

So. I don't see anything bad with it. Of course, sometimes i found myself wondering " what i supposed to do from this? " I allways have an idea where founded item could be used. But, usually forget that idea very fast. :D
