Golf balls are an easy cheap alternative. Drill 2mm undersize, use a lathe to centre the hole and press on.
When I was much, much younger we used o cut golf balls open for the center and between the skin and the core was about 1.000,000 miles of thin rubber wound around the core like a ball of string.
If you were real careful you could cut the skin off and wrap it up tight in a bit of thin rag. This could be used to bugger up the hair-do of thine enemy at the movies if you could get a seat behind them.
Have golf balls changed?
All plastic now and more workshop friendly. I use them a lot for handles. Good for file ends too.
Thanks for that Bony. You may have gathered that I don't play golf.
Nor do I, waste of a good walk.
