Pretty sure it is, and during the summer monsoons, too, based on the rain in the mountains and the green "grass"...

I circumnavigated that by car in '98 or so. It was huge. It had a lot of helicopters, too.

Yup, definitely the Rincon Mountains with the storm on them.

    Under "Required ID" it says...

Full name as shown on Driver’s License or State Issued Photo ID, including middle initial or middle name (passports are NOT accepted for U.S. Citizens)

Interesting that a United States Air Force associated organization doesn't recognize documents issued by the US Dept. of State and accepted by most countries in the world.

I know I don't trust the government but I didn't realize that government agencies don't trust the government.

I suspect it's more they're not allowed to accept passports for some reason, not that they won't accept or trust them. The base has some pretty weird security.

And it's not like anything there is a state secret or anything. I mean, heck they have B52's and B1's visibly destroyed on the ground visible to satellites as a part of treaty compliance. (1991 SALT, iirc) http://cdn.neonsky.com/4bd5ebf97479c...216-0276-1.jpg

Ok, can you suggest some reasons why they would not be allowed to accept passports in this application ?

It's a lot easier to counterfeit a state driver's license than it is to counterfeit an American passport.

I smell an instance of bureaucratic idiocy here and am curious if I'm right.

That is weird. Home address requirement?

Google search for "passports are not accepted for U.S. citizens" - with double quotes. Enclosing the search in double quotes requires results only matching that exact phrase.

Maybe this same requirement exists elsewhere with slightly different phrasing?
