That is an interesting design which I haven't seen before.
I am familiar with the conical and Thiel baffle versions.
Are there any critical dimensions to be considered?

The angular placement of blower side induces the centrifugal action, the screen allows air to exit where ever it likes. A Thiel wouldn't hurt it any, but might not be any benefit. The drum of vacuum couldn't be cleaner; effective and impressive.
