Clever work-around for thickness adjustment; via tilting table. A surprising amount of fabrication to couple commercial hardware into a purely homebuilt frame. Best part might be the hand wound sanding drum. Who really cares about diameter? Not many, beyond manufacturers of sanding drums and arbors.
Much like makers of printers and immense variety of cartridges...
One thing I didn’t see was how the tension/tracking adjustment worked.
Not perfectly clear. At still title shot, and ~5:06, slots are visible on out-feed end. Looks like pillow blocks bolt on to keys, to ride slots. Such a wide belt area, of three separates, might be tedious. Unlike matched Vee drive belts, sanding belts of same precise length are improbable.
agreed, however sanding belt material may be purchased in rolls of any width the widest I have ever heard of on a special order was 96" wide #8 grit I have a roll of 10" #16 grit Making belts is not particularly difficult but does take some practice in getting the material prepared just right for bonding
