    Wood structure?

A few years ago I did a disaster recovery for a mine. A tornado hit it and did about $50 million in damage. I couldn't believe it, but the brick and block structures were absolutely destroyed. The only things left standing were wood frame and steel structures. Never in a million years would I have predicted that.

In an earthquake a wood structure is one of the safest as they have an ability to flex and not topple. We had a 6.3 here in 2010 and I was in a second story house. It was interesting. Sounded like the loudest freight train I ever heard and we did a lot of dancing.
