Very clever. It will be interesting a few people see your invention, and start to ask their Stihl dealer for information about purchasing one.
Or in 6 months Harbor Freight will be selling the Central Machinery version for $149.95
Ingenious!
You have a marketable product in that. File an intent to patent application FAST! That way at least you have established prior artwork with the patent office. It does not cost much to do at least that and it does offer you some protection.
Because you posted it here with a time stamp, you've established ownership of the design but I agree with mcchwo, apply ASAP, I wasn't kidding about the Harbor Freight thing!
Thanks for not boring us with the build itself but instead showing us all its features.
Do you find having to push against the throttle bar and against the rotation of the chain itself to be tiring after a while?
The only way patenting a design will really help you is if you can afford the lawyers to defend your patent in court. Having a patent won't stop anyone who has the money to fight you until you can't fight anymore. According to my FIL, you also need the help of a patent lawyer to research state of the art, and prior related work. He's an engineer, with hundreds of patents. All of which belong to his various former employers.

Thanks hemmjo, how stupid of me. But many more thanks to DairyNZ some really great ideas there. I especially like the ability to easily turn the chainsaw on its side for refueling, clever and really handy. Well done!
That’s a great build! That being said is there any info on the build? I heat exclusively with wood and cutting up those small branches area pain in the butt. There’s a lot of heat in that small stuff and that looks like a really safe way get it cut.
