    Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) on the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). EMALS is designed to replace the steam catapult systems currently used on the Nimitz-class aircraft carriers.

    Where is the DeLorean...does it make it to 88mph? That would be a spectacular finish! Although crash dummy looked be about 100yards off the bow and a hard hit on the water. Wonder what kind of power it takes to operate it.

    There are some roller coasters now that use a Linear induction motor. Where the armature is actually the "car". There is no mechanical connection between the power source and the coaster car. VERY HARD acceleration. The "Top Thrill" in Sandusky Ohio, is one example. Modeled after a Top Fuel Dragster.
