Interesting; this relates to local anti-nuclear legislation: https://berkeley.municipal.codes/BMC/12.90.030 . Turns out we have one of those in Colorado too: https://library.municode.com/co/boul...SASA_CH8NUFRZO

Essentially a feel good law that consumes tax dollars and adds bureaucracy. There is a good perspective on it here: https://www.dailycal.org/2018/08/08/...e-consequences . They should sue the sun, because it's a nuclear reactor.

The polar opposite would be this DIY fallout shelter video from the National Archives:

Local council political statement, much favoured by the left in Europe too.

A concrete ceiling would have been a good addition instead of wooden floor joists.

From the video, "Ruth and I can live in here very comfortably for at least 2 weeks". I from my understanding, if you have a real fallout situation, hiding for 2 weeks is not really going to be of much help.

Ain't that the truth, after a nuclear exchange you can expect to be sheltering for MANY months and with the infrastructure severely damaged no one is coming to help. That type of shelter would be handy for tornado prone areas.

Yeah. The declarations of "Gun Free Zone" are working miracles........

This reminds me of Marv K's observation on California Proposition 65, where 100's and 100's of compounds, elements, every day materials are declared 'known carcinogens"; including the very signage warnings appear on.
Mr. K hypothesized suing the state for proliferating the issue.
Let''s see, entire gang of leftist liberal loonies against 1 Marv.

Calculating......... (insert strung out calculation here amid humorous pops and beeps)

    They don't stand a chance.
    Sincerely,

Yes "Gun free zones" turning the law abiding into easily targeted, highlighted as safe for armed criminals, disarmed victims works everytime.

Commifonicators Prop 65 is equally stupid, I buy US made toxic/explosive gas pressure control regulators (APTech) for our semi-con work, everyone has the Prop 65 stickers attached, regulators are made from stainless steel with a tiny amount of PEEK in the seat, the gases they'll be handling are far more and more immediately dangerous.

I'm working on another lawsuit based on their failure to protect us from a known nuclear threat - the sun.

They've allowed us to live unprotected in close (93E6 miles is "close" in the context of astronomical distances) proximity to an UNSHIELDED, FUSION reactor of enormous power that is constantly bombarding us with radiation including neutrinos that can pass unhindered through the entire planet. The earth's magnetic field provides some protection but it has a history of periodic reversals and has no effect on neutrinos. In such reversals population centers may not be protected for unknown intervals of time.

They must immediately supply every person on earth with a lead umbrella while they construct an acceptable plan to...

shield the earth from the sun (gonna play hell with solar power generation but it has to be done)
cement the sphere of liquid iron at the center of the earth in place so the magnetic field cannot reverse
create a committee to study methods of halting neutrinos with devices made only from organic materials
send a delegation to the sun to examine the safety measures now in place

OK, I admit I've taken liberties with the physics but do you really believe there is a politician who knows enough physics to catch me? Remember, the object here is to involve them so deeply with a manufactured emergency so scary that the public and the media demand that they work on the problem, hopefully so demanding that they don't have time to make legislation that matters.
