I wonder if that angle of attack was just clime rate or does it assume that attitude all the time

kinda looks like it keeps that attitude... probably needed a rear flounder too for lift in the rear. Ill bet modern computer design could really make it work awesome. those flippers arnt quite right, they were thinking, but quite not in the right direction. it is kinda neet and wood make for a nice plane to have in your garage...when done right, it dosent seem to have much lift or a real wing to it the way it's made, more like power and plowing through the air thus the angle/attatude in flight. wing probably has little real lift to it. wouldn't be a lot to make it right... or at least better.
it might even fly better upside down....

Today it would be called a drone or high altitude hovercraft.

The ground effects on landing must have been atrocious and unpredictable. It might need some "openings" in the wings to "dirty" it up for approach. (Note: I'm not an aerodynamicist!)
