    Friend has a saw with a 52" bar and it has very limited use. Good for slabbing though.

    That long bar does look a bit unwieldy if it was intended as as felling saw. But when used for vertical cuts, the long bar would not be such a burden. From the looks of the stickered slabs in the background, he is using that saw very effectlvely.

    A real issue with a bar that long is the amount of tension you need on the chain to keep it against the bar. Then the amount of heat stretch you get when each of those links expands a little as the cut proceeds really causes the chain to loosen and ride up on the sprocket.

    I have a 36" bar for my old Husqvarna 65. With skip-tooth chain it works well for slabbing.

    Yep, had seen the cribbed live edge raw material, not convinced HE cut them.
    My thought was "this guy wandered off the tour, and here is this lonely chainsaw, just sitting there...".
