    HUMMMm it looks like there is more to this F 104 than just a rocket assist take off. At 0:04 it looks like some kind of propeller is attached to the top side of the this jet.



    Here is another video showing the rocket motor being attached then a few launches showing the motor being released after the fire goes out.
