Faceting Gems

Hello and thank you for the nice welcome.
I am a woodworker though at the moment I am semi retired. I have an interest in gem stone faceting and would like to learn how to construct a rigid mast machine. At the moment I own a Ray Tech Shaw faceting machine which I do enjoy on occasion. but the older I get the more I think I need the rigidity of a mast machine
which will allow me to cut larger stones. If anyone can help me with that, that would be great. If not this is still an incredible site. Thank you for having me .

The faceting machine build sounds challenging :). I'm sure a lot of our guys would be interested in a tool build like that. We only have 1 other one listed so far: Homemade Faceting Machine . Feel free to post a new thread in the Help Me Build subforum if you're looking for ideas for the build.
