Commercial fishermen are some of the most superstitious lots you will ever meet. Most I've met, up in the Northwest wouldn't consider putting on a life vest until the seas were running higher than the width of the beam of their boat. said to wear a vest was a sure-fire way to jinx the boat. When I had my bass boat everyone wore a vest in my boat if the big motor was running. running the trolling motor maybe not. I have 2 very fond memories of that boat.
