That is 1 possibility, But in general flame metal transfer spray is used to repair a worn shaft. First you should turn it undersize the area in need of repair with a coarse cut then preheat to between 100 and 150°f add the spray while not allowing the shaft to go above 250 to 400°f This is a nominal figure by the way since differing materials have a lower or higher critical temperature which must be maintained. The same thing is true when building up a shaft with other mediums such as stick tig or mig
