    Floating knife

It's not easy to find a knife that will float if dropped in water so I was happy to find this Morakniv model...

    https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Floa.../dp/B08BS9WBC9

    at a very reasonable price.

Not only does the knife float...

but the knife in its scabbard floats as well...

Morakniv knives are made in Sweden and all arrive deadly sharp. For the purists carbon steel blades are available but even the stainless blades have a wicked sharp edge. The sheaths are well designed. The knife clips in but the sheath can be removed from the knife with one hand - a very handy feature when fishing or cutting stuff in the shop. The sheaths have a drain hole so they shed water - another handy fishing feature.

"Morakniv knives are made in Sweden and all arrive deadly sharp." Which can be further refined easily if required, basic Mora's are cheap disposable working knives, reworking worn blades for specific uses is much cheaper than buying specialist knives.

back when I did a little fishing a friend made a couple of knives for me 1 was a Sailer's knife short bladed only about a 3 1/2-inch blade with a split tang extending all the way through the cork handle that was wrapped with cordage the handle was quite a bit longer than the blade around 5 inches it floated quite well sized to fit my hands. the other was a filet knife 7 inch blade very thin and flexible it floated but not quite as well if I dropped it overboard, I might have to wait a minute for it to surface. Both were hollow ground and surgically sharp and came with a sharpening and honing rig he made. @ $500.00 a pair in the 1980s it might take up to 6 months to get them but worth every penny IMO.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

I can't answer your question without X-raying the knife but they do sell the blades separately...

    https://www.amazon.com/Morakniv-Clas...s%2C135&sr=8-5

and that seems to indicate that it's full tang construction.

You can try to make a floating knife like I did with an old saw and cork pot stand
