With the oil embargo and new regulations, the Mustang II was basically a watered-down version of the earlier generation and is very similar to the loathed Pinto. Despite the high volumes sold, the II's did not enjoy the popularity of its siblings.

Collectors wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. For them it is trash, but to builder jshcobra on MustangII.net, it is treasure. His souped up version of the '77 Cobra II features a 347 stroker engine coupled to an SR4. Body was painstakingly restored to its near-stock appearance. It was the car of its time, built for the need and not for speed. I do believe that the Mustang II's should get their due.
