seen this done many times where there is no dock facilities 10 ton fork lift sends a 3 ton fork lift inside of a box van then lowers the smaller lift to the ground the small lift carries the load off somewhere and returns. Only becomes really unsafe when someone gets in a hurry and tries to lower a loaded forklift.
Obviously a long reach construction type fork lift would be the better choice to pull the load to the rear or a pallet jack the problem with pallet jacks are they are hard to pull or push with a double stacked load and posses a greater risk of injury than sending a fork lift inside.
unless the small one is electric there would be some fumes in that confined space. no mask. Probably done it many times: bit like spraying glyphosate= very safe till it kills someone. A couple of cubic metres(yards) of wood there= at least a couple of tonne(ton). At least the ground is level! I use a pallet jack inside my storage container and I can snug up the double up pallets (I made the box like pallets myself & they lock together) but it leaves a bit to be desired.
I doubt very seriously if the forklift had been electric not with real tires on it like it had It was most likely diesel powered. Judging from the shape and color I figure it to be a JHL brand made in guangzhoo China with a 1.2L Mitsubishi diesel the larger lift denotes it as being a (100) also the same brand this lift is a 10,000 KG cap. lift and would have 2 meter long forks and could have had either the 2.8L 6 cyl diesel Both are comparable to the Toyota forklifts even in quality as long as they are maintained but will degrade quickly at an alarming rate if proper maintenance intervals are not strictly followed. I only know this because we had several of them the 2 inmy factory were still like new after 10 years while the ones we had in our several warehouses had begun to have minor break downs in as few as 6 years except for our (200) IT WAS A BEAST.

I made the wide set of forks to carry 12 meter long panels and made a pivoting carriage to enable the forklift to pass through a 4 meter wide door with the load
