Sounds complicated just to go fast. but I'm not a racer or even a racing enthusiast. I understand the function of regenerative braking often found in EV and hybrid vehicles. But in those vehicles the amount of recovered energy is negligible for people who hardly ever use their brakes and just gently slow down before stopping. The whole mass+ kinetic versus inertia is completely lost for them, where as a couple 100 lbs of lower vehicle weight is a huge savings. Strip all of the little, seldom, and never used features out of their vehicles and they would nearly double their milage figures without doing anything.
