Hi to all you tool and jig designers
I am a retired engineer with many years in design and development in the flexographic plate making industry. I have always hated wood as I battle to weld it! In my retirement I was introduced to wood turning and now totally addicted. I make as many of my own tools and jigs and enjoy the challenges involved.
I returned to live in South East Wales ( UK) after some 40 years in South Africa where I was first introduced to woodturning. I have built a couple of sheds to house my metal and wood lathes where I spend many hours making tools, jigs and many turned items to sell in a local upmarket craft shop.
Cheers John (fredferret)

Hi John,
Welcome - glad to have you here! :welcome:
I've been thinking about taking up turning, myself. What's the best place to begin?

Hi Ken
I would strongly advise you to visit a local woodturning club try out turning to see whether it's for you if it is join the club and take a beginners course before buying a lathe and tools etc.
Have fun and enjoy yourself

Hi Jon
Many thanks for your welcome.
I am currently finishing my new sphere turning system which has been an interesting project with a certain amount of research on various websites the end result looks promising, prior to this I have recently completed two different sizes of articulated laser hollowing systems, one for small entry holes and one for deep hollowing these are a great addition to my tool collection.
Regards John
