    500+ Homemade Tool Plans

Love the simplicity of your "squaring" plate (or clamp) and thanks for sharing the idea. The top bar is quite long in relation to the part being clamped. By pulling down on the unsupported end you are "bowing" or relieving clamping pressure in the middle. By drilling some additional holes along the X axis and bolting closer to your part you would improve clamping force. You could even have a few shorter bars instead of multiple holes in the longer one. I'm sure you have studs laying around for your mill clamps. I prefer studs vs. bolts.

The CAD plans are beautiful and your generosity is fully appreciated. Many thanks.

Thanks for the comment. You make a good point, the 1 x 1 clamp bar does bow however the stock has never slipped. I don't think I would trust the clamp to hold stock perfectly flat if I need a slot but for milling the ends it works well.
