    These drills are tiny and brittle. Any side force breaks them off. A metal drill guide is therefore trouble. The soft plastic of this guide is harmless.

    I can testify to that, Rick. Back in the day I made a steel drill guide for the same purpose and it worked really well if the objective was to break drills. I finally gave up on the idea of hand drilling and used my Unimat, running at the warp speed needed for those drills. A dial indicator on the carriage allowed me to space the holes accurately.
