GarageBuilds.net: Garage/Bar by Excogitate
This 22'x19' garage, built by Excogitate on GarageJournal.com, is unique in its clever use of space and tasteful finishes.
The builder started out with a dream and some simple Sketchup images. He had the same challenges that many garage builders face; he needed room to work, room for storage, and of course, a bar.
Excogitate didn't want to stare at storage items while working or relaxing, and he also didn't want work dust to enter the garage hangout area. The solution: hideaway doors, concealment walls, and a rolling workbench and bar.
The first step was to stain and clearcoat the floor. Then, simple shelves were made to hold storage totes, and both the storage and the water heater were concealed with bypass doors. The bar itself was made to roll, and the bar area was hidden behind a moving wall made from uni-strut, lumber, and casters.
He made a workbench that folds into a 30"x30" footprint, then expands into a full 8' bench, and can be rolled out into the driveway for additional work space.
The bar top was decorated with gel-coated newspapers from the WWII era, and a USA map was made out of license plates.
Unfortunately, the build thread ends sadly. The owner sells the property, and mentions his plans to build a 24x32 garage at his new house.
