    It's a CO2 laser. Granite contains some amount of radium and/or uranium. This process would probably create some radon gas and maybe even a little gamma radiation.

    Okay it sounded kinda "grindy" so I figured it was a diamond head or some other mechanical method of abrasion. It looks very small to be a laser. Maybe 5 watts or less? Actually you'd need an air supply to keep the optics clean or the dust produced will roast the optics. I don't see an air supply.

    But there's no way doing this can release gamma radiation. Radiation doesn't work that way.

    It uses impact engraving. Laser was a good theory though. They do have laser engravers.
