Grinding bench
Here is quick view of my high speed grinding bench.

My preference is always to use my slow speed water stone grinder, (Tormek like), but I sometimes need to shape more than sharpen, and I do that on this high speed grinder.
To be able to re-use all the jigs I have for the water grinder (I still have to show that), I have made this adaptation that can be seen on the left side.
The tool rest is exactly the same system as what exists on my Tormek like water grinder : it's a simple 12mm round pole that goes transversally in front of the wheel.
To be able to setup the height of the bar, I have this funny stack of plywood sandwitch. It's hold in place thanks to the big vertical screw and big knob on top.
To change the height, I just have to unstack, and put more or less plywood below the bar.
Unscrewing the knob, I can also pull the bar to take it away from the wheel.
The bench itself is also homemade for that purpose from salvaged wood found here and there.

What a clever system to achieve that adjustable height! Definitely going into my favorites list!

Very clever indeed! The spacer stack design has provided a lot of ideas on where else this can be applied. Thanks, Paul

Very nice steady rest. :O)

Interesting setup. Using stacks for height adjustments. Simple but effective.
