Very nice to see a skilled expert at work. Enviable. For larger scissors: 1. The blades must be slightly bent against another - "springy" but not jamming. 2. The faces of the blades (which are facing another) have to be ground 'hollow' - about 0.3mm. (Alternative: slightly 'tilted' in respect to the axis of the rivet)
I hardly think a copper rivet will prove satisfactory, far too soft.
