Handheld tile cutter in the lathe

Possibly this meets with snorts of derision, but trying to fathom why I couldn’t turn steel on this little lathe (the pulley was slack on the mandrel), I thought of using a virtually unused tile cutter, which of course has a carbide tip - on a 6mm square shank, so fitting into the tool post of this Cowell 90 minilathe. It does give a very rough cut, because the tip is oriented that way, it was just an experiment.
The tool has only ever been used as a marking knife, which is handy although if you think this is a good idea, bear in mind that it will cut your try square as well as mark stock.
