Shapers get no love these days; 99% of that is from people unfamiliar with their utility and ease in generating less common cuts. They wrongly focus on limited power and time to complete a cut.
I've worked in literally dozens of shops; jobbers, captive, and production alike. Innumerable cases where a shaper would have been a benefit; even if sat in a corner, tarped over between times. Worse yet, a large percentage had one someone decided was excess. As if 1920's or 1950's dollars meant anything these days...
