Height gage probe
One of the most useful additions to my height gages is also one of the simplest. A long rod on a cut-to-size bar that replaces the supplied scriber allows me to make measurements down in holes and cavities that can't be reached by the supplied scriber.
If you make this, think about adding holes/setscrews/whatever to the bar so it can be used to mount a DTI to serve as a "repeatable touch" sensor when making precision comparisons, etc.. I haven't done it because I have other, previously-made, fittings to handle that.
