Hi ,
My name is Jeff , based in the Uk and im into watch making and repair . As parts for watches are now getting very difficult to locate and purchase, i have begun to manufacture those that i need.
Many skills are required all of which i need to learn / improve upon .
Buying ready made machinery and tools is very expensive so i make all i can for myself . Recently found that i spend more time making tools to make tools than i do on watch repair. :lol: However i now have quite a few toys for the lathe etc .
I have a Cowells Me90 lathe and after refurbishment im very pleased with it.
Next purchase will be a Mini Mill ( when the treasurer agrees)
Looking forward to reading all the good stuff on here.

I dont have a lot to show right now . Ive been working on solutions for Jaeger Le-Coultre 467/2 .
These are the pocket watches used by the Military during world war 2.
Every example that i have seen has a very poor dial with flaking paint and discoloured. So thats the first problem . The second solution i needed, was to make new winding stems . They are often snapped also often missing. These can not be bought and so must be made.
To be honest i have found working to such fine tolerances and accuracy a real challenge . I have needed to make many drawings , and new bits for the lathe in order to make these components. I decided to spend time and money practising , developing the skills and getting the right kit in order to make any part for these watches with the exception of the balance spring, main spring and crystal . These three items will have to be bought in the form of another watch (donor unit) as they are beyond my ability to make .
Ive made good progress but have a hell of a way to go before the parts are up to scratch .
I am however enjoying the trip and its sure keeping me thinking .
When i have something to be proud of i will post some pics be sure.
